MAX1090H280-R Waterproof Case (Removable Lid)

The MAX1090H280-R is the lift-off version of the 280. Release the 12 latches and the lid comes away completely, leaving an open 1090 x 680mm tray with 210mm of depth and nothing overhead. Lid side handles make it easy to lift clear and set down.

Total capacity is 215 litres. It weighs 17.5kg empty and rolls on double wheels with a large fold-down pull handle, with bottom-side handles at both ends for lifting it loaded.

Removable or hinged lid

Taking the lid right off matters when two people are loading from opposite sides of a bench, or when the contents come out vertically rather than being angled around a hinge. It is the version most people choose for a fitted-out case, since rack frames, tool boards, trays and cut foam are all easier to drop in and lift out with nothing in the way. It is also the one to pick if the case lives on a shelf and gets opened from above.

The trade-off is that the lid is a separate piece to keep track of, and that this version uses 12 latches rather than 8, so there is more to release each time. If the case gets opened and closed dozens of times a day in the field, the hinged MAX1090H280 is the better buy.

Empty, cubed foam or rifle fitout

Empty is the base configuration (MAX1090H280-R), giving you 215 litres of clear volume for your own foam, trays or dividers.

Cubed foam (MAX1090H280S-R) fills the base and lid with pick-and-pluck cubes you can pull out by hand to shape a rough pocket. Fine for mixed loads and gear that changes.

The rifle fitout (MAX1090H280GUN-R) ships with pre-cut foam shaped for long arms. The 1090mm internal length takes most rifles and shotguns without breaking them down, and the removable lid means you load from above rather than working around a hinge. Two padlock points, and the case is ATA 300 Category 1 certified so it travels as checked baggage on domestic and international flights.

Transport and storage of firearms is regulated at state level in Australia. Check your obligations with your state firearms registry before travelling.

For anything the standard options do not suit, we cut custom foam inserts in our Melbourne workshop from your drawings or from the equipment itself.
